Golfplan's annual golf insurance policies were created for golfers by a golfer who almost killed his daughter with a miss-hit golf ball. Bristol based Golfplan Insurance, the first ever UK specialist golf insurance policy, was founded by Managing Director, Ron Channon, in 1984 after hitting his 9-year old daughter on the head with a golf ball whilst practising at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club in 1982.
Today, Golfplan is Europe's largest specialist golf insurance provider and the only one endorsed by the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA).
Unlike most other golf insurance providers, Golfplan was founded by a golfer with vast experience in the golf industry. Ron Channon turned to golf as a 'replacement' sport after quitting his professional rally driving career; most notably finishing 14th of only 26 to finish the gruelling London to Mexico World Cup Rally in 1970. On taking up golf, Ron invented the concept of the very first spikeless golf shoe based on tyre technology and went on to win international marketing awards for worldwide exports using the legendary Tony Jacklin to promote the Stuburt Pro-Am range of golf shoes.
PGA Endorsement
Golfplan Insurance has always supported UK PGA golf professionals by placing all equipment claim settlement business through on-course PGA professional shops. In recognition of this Golfplan was granted full endorsement of its policies from the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) in 1996 and continues to enjoy this coveted award. Today a UK network of nearly 2000 PGA professionals display Golfplan leaflets in their shops, clubhouses, locker rooms and driving ranges.
Comprehensive Protection for Conscientious Golfers
Statistics compiled by Golfplan Insurance show that some 12,000 golfing accidents occur annually of which just over 3,500 accidents involve head injury. Golfplan's largest settled public liability claim to date is for £87,000!
Golfplan's annual policies provide a package of essential benefits for amateur and professional golfers including theft, loss or damage of golf equipment including buggies/carts, trolleys, rainsuit, shoes and bags. 8 more benefits include public liability cover to £5m, accidental damage to third party property cover to £2m, personal accident to £75,000, golf club membership fees in the event sickness or injury preventing play to £2000, personal effects up to £1000, hole-in-one bar re-imbursement up to £300, golf equipment hire up to £300 and tournament entry fee reimbursement in the event sickness or injury preventing participation up to £250.
All policies provide inclusive worldwide cover. Our New for old policies replace lost or stolen equipment with brand new, regardless of age at the time of loss.
